The Scenic Northern Route
After breakfast, depart Moshi and drive to Rongai Gate near the Kenya border. After registration and briefing, begin your ascent through lush montane forest where wildlife such as colobus monkeys and various bird species can occasionally be spotted.
The trail gradually climbs through forest and heathland before arriving at Simba Camp.
Today's trek continues through open moorland with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The gradual ascent helps your body adjust to the altitude while enjoying spectacular panoramas of the Kenyan plains.
Leave the main trail and ascend toward Kikelewa Camp. The route becomes steeper and more scenic, with magnificent views of Mawenzi Peak dominating the skyline.
A shorter trekking day allows for proper acclimatization. Reach Mawenzi Tarn Camp located beneath the dramatic spires of Mawenzi Peak.
The afternoon is ideal for acclimatization walks and photography.
Cross the vast alpine desert known as The Saddle, situated between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. This surreal landscape offers some of the most unique scenery on Kilimanjaro.
Arrive at Kibo Hut for rest and preparation before your summit attempt.
Your summit attempt begins shortly after midnight. Slowly ascend through the darkness toward Gilman’s Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs, descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing to Horombo Hut.
