Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will receive a warm welcome from your Msonge Tours & Safaris representative before transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Enjoy your first views of northern Tanzania landscapes and, on clear days, the magnificent slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

After hotel check-in, enjoy time to relax, refresh, and prepare for your trekking adventure.

Meet your professional mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing covering route overview, altitude awareness, safety procedures, equipment check, trekking preparation, and summit expectations. Your guide ensures all preparations are complete before the climb begins.

Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Moshi.

Breakfast at the hotel before departure toward Kilimanjaro National Park.

Drive to Machame Gate for registration formalities and final equipment checks before beginning the trek.

Begin trekking through dense rainforest trails toward Machame Camp (2,835m). The rainforest section offers incredible scenery filled with giant trees, tropical vegetation, birds, and occasional wildlife sightings while cool mountain air creates a peaceful trekking atmosphere. Along the route, enjoy photography opportunities and fascinating explanations from your guides about Kilimanjaro’s ecosystems and biodiversity.

Upon arrival at camp, enjoy tea or coffee followed by a short acclimatization walk around the surrounding forest area.

Dinner prepared by the mountain crew followed by overnight stay at Machame Camp.

Breakfast at camp before continuing the ascent.

Trek through rainforest and moorland landscapes toward Shira 1 Camp (3,500m). As the vegetation gradually changes, spectacular panoramic views begin to emerge while trekkers experience Kilimanjaro’s rich biodiversity and changing mountain scenery. The route offers excellent opportunities for nature photography and altitude adaptation.

Enjoy a guided acclimatization hike around the surrounding area to improve altitude adaptation and prepare for higher elevations.

Dinner and overnight stay at Shira 1 Camp.

Breakfast at camp before continuing across the Shira Plateau.

Trek across one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic high-altitude regions toward Shira 2 Camp (3,840m). The open landscapes provide breathtaking views of Kibo Peak, volcanic formations, and expansive alpine scenery stretching across the mountain plateau. The gradual pace allows trekkers to acclimatize comfortably while fully enjoying the peaceful mountain environment.

Dinner and overnight stay at Shira 2 Camp.

Breakfast before continuing toward Barranco Camp.

Trek through heath zones, volcanic landscapes, and lava fields while approaching Barranco Camp (3,950m). The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic with breathtaking mountain views, rocky terrain, and spectacular photographic opportunities throughout the day. This section of the route offers one of Kilimanjaro’s most visually impressive trekking experiences.

Enjoy optional acclimatization hikes and explore areas near the famous Barranco Wall with your mountain crew.

Dinner and overnight stay at Barranco Camp.

Breakfast before beginning one of the most exciting sections of the trek.

Climb the famous Barranco Wall while enjoying spectacular views and dramatic volcanic scenery. Although physically demanding in some sections, the climb is non-technical and considered one of Kilimanjaro’s most rewarding trekking experiences. After crossing the wall, descend into Karanga Valley before arriving at Karanga Camp (4,035m).

Breakfast before departing toward Barafu Camp.

Trek through alpine desert landscapes toward Barafu Camp (4,640m). The scenery becomes increasingly rugged and dramatic with high-altitude conditions, rocky terrain, and incredible summit views.

Lunch on the trail while mentally and physically preparing for summit night.
