Climb to the Top roof of Africa

Welcome to the top roof of Africa and the highest lone standing mountain in the world.
At the highest point on the African continent at 5895 Meters and it is located in the North-East of Tanzania – near the border of Kenya. The mountain proper covers an area of 100 kilometers long and 65 kilometers wide.

In fact Kilimanjaro is a large stratovolcano (i.e. it is built up of many layers of strata consisting of lava, volcanic ash, pumice and tephra). The mountain consists of three peaks or volcanic vents. Shira is the oldest but only stands at 3,962 meters (13,000 feet).

Apart from Mt. Kilimanjaro we have Mt.meru Mt. Meru is a dormant volcano about 1 ½ million years old. One side of exploded out about 8,000 years ago as Meru’s caldera lake was transformed into super-heated steam by an inner eruption.
One of the largest landslides of mud and rock ever measured worldwide took place, forming hillocks, valleys and small lakes.

How to reach to the top roof of Africa

MARANGU ROUTE

The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” is the most popular and straightforward path up Mount Kilimanjaro. This scenic trail offers a gradual ascent with comfortable hut accommodations at each camp along the way.

Hikers journey through lush rainforests, moorlands, and rocky alpine landscapes before reaching the snowy summit at Uhuru Peak. Known for its relative comfort and well-maintained trails, the Marangu Route provides a classic Kilimanjaro experience perfect for first-time climbers.

Duration: 5 to 6 days
Difficulty: Medium
Scenery: Good
Traffic: High

MACHAME ROUTE

As also known as the Whisky Route is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Kilimanjaro. This popular route with paths through magnificent forests to gain a ridge leading through the moorland zones to the Shira Plateau.

It then traverses beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Ice fields to join the Barafu Route to the summit. Because it can be done over longer periods and the incline is more manageable it has a much higher success rate of reaching the summit.

Duration: 6 to 7 days
Difficulty: Medium
Scenery: Excellent
Traffic: High

LEMOSHO ROUTE

As a newer route, it is more remote and arguably more beautiful, but a bit longer and slightly more expensive. It starts on the Western side of the mountain at the Londorossi Gate which is a further drive from town, and was introduced as an alternative to the Shira route.

You may be lucky enough to see buffalo, elephant and other game. Because this route can be done over a longer period of time for acclimatization, it has a higher success rate of reaching the summit.

Duration: 7 to 8 days
Difficulty: Medium
Scenery: Excellent
Traffic: High

RONGAI ROUTE

Less crowded because of its remote location the route offers trekkers a unique wilderness experience where it is possible to see large wildlife like antelope, elephant and buffalo.

The Rongai route is one of the easier routes up Kilimanjaro. Rongai is the only route to approach Kilimanjaro from the
north and the descent is via the Marangu Route. Summit night from Kibo Hut is steep and follows the same path taken by the Marangu route.

Duration: 5 to 6 days
Difficulty: Medium
Scenery: Very Good
Traffic: Low

UMBWE ROUTE

This route is the steepest with the shortest and most direct routes to the Southern Glaciers, Western Breach and Uhuru Peak. It is probably the most scenic, non-technical route on Kilimanjaro.

However it is quite taxing, primarily due to the relatively fast ascent to higher altitude, but the rewards are plentiful. Very steep route best suited to experienced trekkers.

Duration: 6 to 7 days
Difficulty: Medium
Scenery: Very Good
Traffic: Low

NORTHERN CIRCUIT  ROUTE

The Northern Circuit route is one of the best routes on Kilimanjaro, offering nearly 360 degrees of beautiful scenery including the quiet, rarely visited northern slopes. As the longest route on
Kilimanjaro, the Northern Circuit allows for the best acclimatization time and the highest summit success rate, therefore this route is highly recommended.

The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge, before crossing the Shira Plateau. The route then heads north and circles
clockwise from Moi Hut to Buffalo Camp to School Hut, before summiting from the east.

Duration: 9 to 10 days
Difficulty: Medium
Scenery: Excellent
Traffic: Low

CLIMB MOUNT MERU

MOUNT MERU TREKKING

Mt.
The geologists estimate that before Mount Meru blew its top it was a tall, symmetrical volcanic spire almost as high as Mount Kilimanjaro. This interesting and broken terrain is now clad in patches of forest and bush at the lower end and pristine rain forest on the upper slopes.
NGURDOTO CRATER
At the bottom end of the Park is another small, but complete, volcanic crater called Ngurdoto, which has recently been
opened to guided hikes. It is a secret paradise, with a lake on one side and elsewhere clothed in virgin forest and a network of open grassy glades
