Day 1 Arrive in Moshi - Briefing and Trekking Preparation
Your adventure begins upon arrival in Moshi, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. After check-in at your hotel, attend a comprehensive briefing led by your mountain guide. This session will cover the trekking plan, safety measures, and essential tips to conquer the Marangu Route. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, exploring Moshi town, or preparing your gear for the journey. Overnight stay at your hotel in Moshi.
Day 2 Moshi to Marangu Gate - Trek to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate (1,870m) for registration. Begin your trek through lush rainforest filled with towering trees, vibrant birdlife, and the sounds of nature. The 4-5 hour trek leads to Mandara Hut (2,700m), your first overnight stop. In the evening, take a short walk to Maundi Crater for panoramic views of northern Tanzania and Kenya. Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut.
Day 3 Mandara to Horombo Hut - (3,720m)
Today’s trek takes you from rainforest into the heath and moorland zone. The trail gradually ascends with incredible views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Spot giant groundsels, lobelias, and unique alpine flora along the way. Arrive at Horombo Hut (3,720m) after 5-6 hours of trekking, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking sunsets and star-filled night skies. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 4 Horombo to Kibo Hut (4,703m)
Today’s journey leads to Kibo Hut (4,703m), situated in the alpine desert. The trek takes 5-7 hours, traversing vast landscapes and lunar-like terrain. The route passes by the famous “Saddle”, a barren expanse between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut and rest early in preparation for the midnight summit attempt. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut.
Day 5 Summit attempt -Uhuru Peak (5,895m) return to Horombo Hut
Wake up at midnight for the most challenging part of the trek. Begin the ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), Africa’s highest point, under the starlit sky. Reach Gilman’s Point (5,685m) at sunrise, offering spectacular views of the glaciers and crater. Continue to Uhuru Peak for your triumphant moment. Descend back to Horombo Hut for much-needed rest after a long, rewarding day.
Day 6 Descend o Marangu Gate & Drive to Moshi
After breakfast, descend through the lush rainforest back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Celebrate your accomplishment with your guide and porters before returning to Moshi. Relax and reflect on your incredible Kilimanjaro adventure. Optional: explore Moshi town or enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight stay in Moshi or transfer to the airport.
