Day 1 Arrive in Moshi - Briefing and Trekking Preparation
Arrive in Moshi, the gateway to Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and attend a comprehensive briefing with your mountain guide. The session covers the trekking plan, safety guidelines, and gear preparation for the Lemosho Route. Spend the day exploring Moshi or resting. Overnight stay at your hotel in Moshi.
Day 2 Moshi to Londorosi Gate
Drive to Londorossi Gate (2,100m) for registration before proceeding to the Lemosho Trailhead. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, home to black-and-white colobus monkeys and a variety of bird species. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m) after 3-4 hours of trekking. Dinner and overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Day 3 Mti Mkubwa to Shira
Continue trekking through the forest zone, transitioning into the heath and moorland. Enjoy views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s twin peaks, Kibo and Mawenzi, along the way. Arrive at Shira 1 Camp (3,610m) after 5-6 hours of trekking. Dinner and overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
Day 4 Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Spend the day trekking across the Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in the world. Enjoy stunning views of the mountain and surrounding landscapes. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp (3,850m) after a moderate 4-5 hour trek. Dinner and overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Day 5 Shira to Barranco Camp Via Lava Tower
Ascend to the Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960m). This challenging day offers breathtaking views of the Western Breach and Barranco Wall. The trek takes approximately 7-8 hours. Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp.
Day 6 Baranco to Karange Camp
Begin the day with a climb up the Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding section of the trek. Continue across rolling hills and valleys to Karanga Camp (4,035m), your overnight stop. Trek duration: 4-5 hours. Dinner and overnight at Karanga Camp.
Day 7Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Today’s trek takes you to Barafu Camp (4,640m), the base camp for your summit attempt. Rest early and prepare for the midnight ascent to the summit. Trek duration: 4-5 hours. Dinner and overnight at Barafu Camp.
Day 8 Summit attempt - Uhuru Peak
Begin your summit attempt at midnight. Trek through the starlit night to Stella Point (5,732m) before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Descend to Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you’ll receive your summit certificates before returning to Moshi for a celebratory dinner and overnight stay.
